Net outflow of Rs 954.39 crore on 23 September 2014

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth net Rs 954.39 crore on Tuesday, 23 September 2014, compared with inflow of Rs 69.15 crore on Monday, 22 September 2014.

The net outflow of Rs 954.39 crore on 23 September 2014 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3942.58 crore and gross sales of Rs 4896.97 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 942.46 crore from the secondary equity market on 23 September 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3942.58 crore and gross sales of Rs 4885.04 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had tumbled 431.05 points or 1.58% to settle at 26,775.69 on that day, its lowest closing level since 17 September 2014.

There was an outflow of Rs 11.93 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 23 September 2014.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 6222.20 crore in this month so far (till 23 September 2014). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 5279.18 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far.

FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 5429.76 crore in August 2014. They bought shares worth a net Rs 3101.70 crore from the secondary equity markets in that month.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 84557.40 crore in this calendar year so far (till 23 September 2014). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 76623.50 crore from the secondary equity markets in this year so far.
