FPIs make miniscule purchases

Net inflow of Rs 2.20 crore on 19 May 2015

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 2.20 crore during the previous trading session yesterday, 19 May 2015, compared with net outflow of Rs 40.73 crore on 18 May 2015.

The net inflow of Rs 2.20 crore on 19 May 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4912.90 crore and gross sales of Rs 4910.70 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 141.66 crore into the secondary equity market on 19 May 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4910.36 crore and gross sales of Rs 4768.70 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had fallen 41.77 points or 0.15% to settle at 27,645.53 on that day, its lowest closing level since 15 May 2015.

There was a net outflow of Rs 139.46 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 19 May 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2.54 crore and gross sales of Rs 142 crore.

FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 5924.55 crore in this month so far (till 19 May 2015). They have sold shares worth a net Rs 7947.10 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 19 May 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 12078.12 crore last month. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 10155.09 crore from the secondary markets last month.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 42269.10 crore in calendar year 2015 so far (till 19 May 2015). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 32182.60 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015 so far (till 19 May 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 97055.90 crore in the calendar year 2014. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 84440.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2014.
