FPIs turn net sellers

Net outflow of Rs 737.51 crore on 16 September 2014

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth net Rs 737.51 crore on Tuesday, 16 September 2014, compared with inflow of Rs 485.33 crore on Monday, 15 September 2014.

The net outflow of Rs 737.51 crore on 16 September 2014 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3165.43 crore and gross sales of Rs 3902.94 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 746.01 crore into the secondary equity market on 16 September 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3156.92 crore and gross sales of Rs 3902.93 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex lost 324.05 points or 1.21% to settle at 26,492.51, its lowest closing level since 26 August 2014 on that day.

There was an inflow of Rs 8.50 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 16 September 2014.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 6662.03 crore in this month so far (till 16 September 2014). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 5762.15 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far.

FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 5429.76 crore in August 2014. They bought shares worth a net Rs 3101.70 crore from the secondary equity markets in that month.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 84997.20 crore in this calendar year so far (till 16 September 2014). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 77106.50 crore from the secondary equity markets in this year so far.
