Japan Stocks hit fresh two-decade highs

The Japan share market finished session at fresh 21-year high on Monday, 16 October 2017, on tracking a solid lead from Wall Street late last week and upbeat Japanese corporate earnings. The Nikkei 225 rose 0.47%, or 100.38 points, to close at 21,255.56, the highest level since 27 November 1996. The broader Topix index advanced 0.62%, or 10.56 points, to 1,719.18, the best closing since 26 July 2007. Rising issues outnumbered falling ones 1,204 to 741 in the TSE's first section, while 85 issues were unchanged. Volume edged down to 1.801 billion shares, from Friday's 1.847 billion shares.
