NCT of Delhi Now Supportive To E-Way Bill, Says Its Addl. Commissioner at PHD Chamber

Additional Commissioner, Department of Trade and Taxes, Delhi, Mr. Anand Kumar Tiwari informed saying that NCT of Delhi has agreed to support E-way bill that have become necessary in GST regime after intense consultations with concerned authorities.

Earlier, the NCT of Delhi was opposed to E-way bill as it held that since GST is for one nation one tax why then have E-way bill, however, as discussions went on and advanced to certain maturity, it is now of the view that E-way bill needed to be supported, he said pointing out that the Delhi Government is still not convinced that E-way bill needed for intra-state transactions particularly when Delhi is Centre of trade related activities for all states.

Addressing a workshop on E-Way Bill and Filing of GSTR-3B under GST organizing by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Tiwari assured the Chamber that all relevant issues surface relating to E-way bill by Delhi industry and traders, the Delhi Government would take them to GST Council for their proper and timely redressal.

Earlier speaking on the occasion, Vice President, PHD Chamber, Mr. D K Aggarwal praised the concept of GST pointing out that PHD Chamber was always its supporter, however, added that some glitches still remain not only on GST front but also pertaining to E-way bill and these need to find a solution for smooth and effective GST and E-way bill implementation.

Chairman, Indirect Taxes Committee, PHD Chamber, Mr. Bimal Jain in his remarks praised GST taxation but at the same time appealed to the authority that wherever traders and businesses are encountering bureaucratic and operational problems in its implementation should be identified without any delay and properly addressed to in consultation with industry.
