Turnover on NSE's F&O segment falls
The April 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7918.15, a premium of 3.45 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7914.70 in the cash market. The Nifty May 2016 futures traded at 7954.65, a premium of 39.95 points compared with the spot closing for the index.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 2.41 lakh crore, lower than turnover of Rs 3.03 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session on Wednesday, 13 April 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty rose 64.25 points or 0.82% to settle at 7,914.70, its highest closing level since 1 January 2016.
Infosys, TCS, Tata Steel, State Bank of India and Yes Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Infosys April 2016 futures traded at 1242.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1237.15. TCS April 2016 futures traded at 2530, at a premium compared with spot closing of 2522.40. Tata Steel April 2016 futures traded at 337, at a premium compared with spot closing of 336.30.
State Bank of India April 2016 futures traded at 186.70, at a premium compared with spot closing of 186.55. Yes Bank April 2016 futures traded at 892, at a discount compared with spot closing of 892.50.
The April 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 April 2016. The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016.
