Nifty January 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment jumps

The January 2016 futures on the 50-unit Nifty 50 index traded at 7744.95, at a premium of 3.95 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7741 in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures and options (F&O) segment increased to Rs 2 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 1.85 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty fell 43.65 points or 0.56% to settle at 7,741, its lowest closing level since 15 December 2015.

Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Industries, Reliance Capital, Tata Steel and State Bank of India were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE.

Reliance Infrastructure January 2016 futures traded at 594.05, at a premium over spot closing of 590.80.

Reliance Industries January 2016 futures traded at 1032.85, at a premium over spot closing of 1029.10.

Reliance Capital January 2016 futures traded at 451.25, at a premium over spot closing of 449.80.

Tata Steel January 2016 futures traded at 267.15, at a discount over spot closing of 268.75.

State Bank of India January 2016 futures traded at 217.35, near spot closing of 217.

The January 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 January 2016.
