Nifty July futures trade near spot price

Turnover declines

The July 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8511, near Nifty's closing of 8508.70 in the cash market. The Nifty August 2016 futures traded at 8546, a modest premium of 37.30 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment declined to Rs 3.01 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.04 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session on Friday, 15 July 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty shed 32.70 points or 0.38% to settle at 8,508.70.

Reliance Industries (RIL), Tata Steel, Infosys, State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Hindustan Unilever (HUL) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. RIL July 2016 futures traded at 1003.65, at near spot closing of 1002.90. Tata Steel July 2016 futures traded at 358.15, at a discount compared with spot closing of 364.55. Infosys July 2016 futures traded at 1082.50, near spot closing of 1081.

SBI July 2016 futures traded at 228.65, near spot closing of 228.60. PNB July 2016 futures traded at 132, at a discount compared with spot closing of 132.10. HUL July 2016 futures traded at 910.25, at a discount compared with spot closing of 911.

The July 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 July 2016. The August 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 25 August 2016.
