Nifty March 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops

The February 2016 futures on the 50-unit Nifty 50 index traded at 7564.85, near Nifty's closing of 7,563.55 in the cash market. The Nifty March 2016 futures traded at 7580, a premium of 16.45 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures and options (F&O) segment declined to Rs 1.94 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 5.35 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty surged 138.90 points or 1.87% to settle at 7,563.55, its highest closing level since 11 January 2016.

Yes Bank, Maruti Suzuki India, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Axis Bank and L&T were listed among top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Yes Bank February 2016 futures traded at 749.70, near spot closing of 749. Maruti Suzuki India February 2016 futures traded at 4107, at a discount compared with spot closing of 4111.95. ICICI Bank February 2016 futures traded at 227.60, at a discount compared with spot closing of 229.

State Bank of India February 2016 futures traded at 180.35, at a premium compared with spot closing of 179.55. Axis Bank February 2016 futures traded at 410.55, near spot closing of 409.60. L&T February 2016 futures traded at 1102.70, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1099.

The February 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 25 February 2016. The March 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 31 March 2016.
