Turnover on NSE's F&O segment rises
The March 2016 futures on the 50-unit Nifty 50 index traded at 7717, at a small premium of 12.75 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7704.25 in the cash market. The Nifty April 2016 futures traded at 7753.55, a premium of 49.30 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 3.09 lakh crore, which was higher than turnover of Rs 3.06 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.
In the cash market, the Nifty jumped 99.90 points or 1.31% to settle at 7,704.25, its highest closing level since 6 January 2016.
Lupin, State Bank of India (SBI), Ashok Leyland, L&T, Axis Bank and Yes Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Lupin March 2016 futures traded at 1538, neat spot closing of 1532.20. SBI March 2016 futures traded at 196.70, at a discount compared with spot closing of 197. Ashok Leyland March 2016 futures traded at 103.40, near spot closing of 103.10.
L&T March 2016 futures traded at 1234.85, near spot closing of 1231.90. Axis Bank March 2016 futures traded at 444.55, at a discount compared with spot closing of 444.90. Yes Bank March 2016 futures traded at 833.10, at a discount compared with spot closing of 833.55.
The March 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 31 March 2016. The April 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 April 2016.
