Quick Wrap: Nifty PSU Bank Index rises 10.74%, NIFTY jumps 3.81%

Nifty PSU Bank index closed up 10.74% at 1573.25 today. The index is down 30.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Bank of Baroda gained 15.36%, State Bank of India rose 13.83% and Punjab National Bank jumped 10.81%. The Nifty PSU Bank index is down 48.00% over last one year compared to the 12.24% decline in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Metal index added 5.71% and Nifty Financial Services index gained 5.65% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 increased 3.81% to close at 9955.2 while the SENSEX added 4.04% to close at 34103.48 today.
