Railway Revenue Earnings up by 23.95 per cent during the Period 11th - 20th February 2013

The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 11th to 20th February 2013 were Rs. 3712.40 crore compared to Rs. 2995.17 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 23.95 per cent.

The total goods earnings were Rs. 2547.59 crore during the period from 11th to 20th February 2013 compared to Rs. 2033.06 crore during 11th to 20th February 2012, showing an increase of 25.31 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 11th to 20th February 2013 were Rs. 1045.36 crore compared to Rs. 857.28 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 21.94 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 87.65 crore during this period compared to Rs. 74.85 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 17.10 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the period 11th to 20th February 2013 were 227.22 million compared to 231.93 million during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 2.03 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during 11th to 20th February, 2013 were 122.42 million and 104.80 million compared to 125.89 million and 106.04 million during the same period last year, registering a decrease of 2.76 per cent and 1.17 per cent respectively.
