Reliance Power turns volatile after Q2 results

Reliance Power was up 20% to Rs 49.90 at 13:49 IST on BSE after consolidated net profit rose 37% to Rs 346 crore on 52% increase in total income to Rs 2856 crore in Q2 September 2015 over Q2 September 2014.

The result was announced during trading hours today, 3 November 2015.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 6.13 points, or 0.02%, to 26,553.02.

On BSE, so far 15.80 lakh shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 12.04 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

Trading in the counter was volatile. The stock rose 2.51% at the day's high of Rs 51.05 so far during the day. The stock fell 2.61% at the day's low of Rs 48.50 so far during the day.

The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 80.80 on 5 November 2014. The stock hit a record low of Rs 33.05 on 25 August 2015.

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 2 November 2015, rising 14.48% compared with 1.29% rise in the Sensex. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 16.76% as against Sensex's 5.53% decline.

The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 2805.13 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Consolidated EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) rose 105% to 1221 crore in Q2 September 2015 over Q2 September 2014.

The company said its total operating capacity was nearly 6,000 megawatts (MW).

The Sasan Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPP) in Madhya Pradesh generated 7,922 million units operating at a availability of 90%.

The Rosa Power Plant in UP generated 2,187 million units operating at a availability of 87% and a plant load factor (PLF) of 83%.

The Butibori Power Plant in Maharashtra, generated 944 million units, at 88% availability and a PLF of 71%.

The 40 MW Dhursar Solar PV plant in Rajasthan generated 16 million units at availability of 95%.

The 45 MW Wind capacity in Vashpet, Maharashtra generated 34 million units at availability of 97%.

100 MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project at Dhursar, Rajasthan, the largest CSP plant under government's National Solar Mission, has commenced power generation. It is the world's largest CSP plant based on CLFR technology, the company said.

The company has the largest portfolio of power projects in the private sector, based on coal, gas, hydro and renewable energy, with an operating portfolio of nearly 6,000 megawatts.
