Natural gas producers decline after cut in natural gas price

Shares of three natural gas production companies were down by 0.16% to 0.73% at 9:49 IST on BSE after the government reduced the natural gas price by 7.72% from today, 1 April 2015.

Reliance Industries (down 0.73%), ONGC (down 0.24%) and Cairn India (down 0.16%), edged lower.

However, Oil India was up 0.63% at Rs 456.50.

The S&P BSE Sensex was down 18.55 points, or 0.07% at 27,938.94.

Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas after trading hours yesterday, 31 March 2015, notified price of domestic natural gas at $4.66 per million metric British thermal unit (MMBTU) on gross calorific value basis for the six months period from 1 April 2015 to 30 September 2015. The gas price is lower by 7.72% from the price of $5.05 per MMBTU for the period from 1 November 2014 to 31 March 2015.
