Nifty April futures trade at premium to spot price
The April 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7915.10, a premium of 15.80 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7899.30 in the cash market. The Nifty May 2016 futures traded at 7954.70, a premium of 55.40 points compared with the spot closing for the index.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 2.96 lakh crore, lower than turnover of Rs 3.28 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.
In the cash market, the Nifty fell 12.75 points or 0.16% to settle at 7,899.30, its lowest closing level since 13 April 2016.
State Bank of India, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki India and ICICI Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. State Bank of India April 2016 futures traded at 200.45, at a premium compared with spot closing of 200.25. Tata Steel April 2016 futures traded at 354.70, at a premium compared with spot closing of 353.80. HDFC Bank April 2016 futures traded at 1095.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1094.30.
Maruti Suzuki India April 2016 futures traded at 3823.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 3815.20. ICICI Bank April 2016 futures traded at 253.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 252.20.
The April 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 April 2016. The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016.
