A labourer from Bihar was killed and five others were injured in an explosion in Arnia sub-sector of the international border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, police said.
The labourers were transplanting paddy saplings in Jabowal area of Jammu district when some explosive device went off killing one of them on the spot.
The injured were shifted to hospital, a police officer said.
The Arnia sub-sector of the IB has been witness to heavy firing and shelling by Pakistan Rangers.
Sources said it is quite possible some unexplored shell went off when the labourers were working in the paddy field.
