The Election Commission Sunday received more than 1 lakh new voter enrolment forms after organising a day-long special voters' campaign in 11,000 polling stations of nine districts in the national capital, an official said.
The forms received were of those who could not find their names in the electorate list.
Of the total forms received, 12,036 are from north district, 17,904 from south, 22,039 from east, 14,305 from west, 22,000 from northwest, 15,062 from northeast, 9,866 from central, 23,500 from southwest and 15,970 from New Delhi district, chief nodal officer Ankur Garg told IANS.
He said change in address, invalid information on electoral forms and unavailability of voters at their residence during electoral roll revision might have resulted in exclusion of names from the list.
The electoral rolls were pasted on a wall of the polling stations and also read out in public so people could check if their name is in the electoral roll.
Similar campaigns were organised in all the 9,30,000 polling stations of the country.
A day-long campaign was also organised Saturday for women of the national capital to raise awareness and increase their participation in the electoral process.
The commission's move comes in wake of complaints that some people with EPIC (Elector Photo Identity Card) in the past have been denied the right to vote because their names were not found in the electoral rolls.
