At least 10 people were killed and 18 injured in a bomb attack in Iraq's Anbar province, an official said Monday.

The explosion occurred in Ramadi city Sunday when a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden car into a security checkpoint, the official told Xinhua.

Iraq is witnessing some of its worst violence in recent years.

According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, terrorism and violence has killed 5,576 civilians in Iraq in the first half of this year, with 11,666 injured, which includes women and children.
