A total of 116 stranded residents of Pakistan-administered Kashmir will travel home on Monday, officials said on Saturday.

Officials at the Chakan Da Bagh trade and travel facilitation centre in Poonch district directed all 116 stranded passengers from across the Line of Control to report at the sports stadium in Poonch on Sunday.

"Since cross LoC trade and travel between Chakan Da Bagh and Rawalakot has remained suspended for the last two months because of the tension on the LoC in Poonch district, it has been decided that 116 stranded residents of Pakistan-administered Kashmir will be sent home via the Kaman Post on the LoC in Baramulla district.

"These people had come to meet their relatives on our side of the LoC.

"Officials at the Uri trade and travel facilitation center in Baramulla have been requested to provide logistic support so that these stranded passengers travel home on August 21," said an official at Chakan Da Bagh.

After 66 kg of heroin were seized from a vehicle that came to Uri trade and travel facilitation centre on July 22 with trade goods, cross-LoC trade between Uri and Chakote has also remained suspended.

The vehicle driver, identified as Syed Yusuf of Chakote, was arrested.
