At least 12 people were killed in a booby-trapped car explosion Friday that targeted former Lebanese finance minister Mohammad Shatah here, media reports said.
Mohammad Shatah's convoy was targeted while on the way to former prime minister Saad Hariri's residence in downtown Beirut to attend a meeting for an opposition conclave early next year, Xinhua reported citing MTV channel.
Shatah's condition was not immediately known, nor was it clear whether those killed were civilians or security personnel.
