At least 120 dancers from India and abroad will perform classical and contemporary dances here Tuesday to celebrate the International Dance Day and make people aware about various dance forms, organisers said.
The dance festival "World Dance Day" is in its fourth year and this time dancers will perform traditional dances like Kathak and Bharatanatyam, as well as contemporary dances like hip-hop at the India Habitat Centre.
It will be organised by the Sadhya performing group.
"There will be a mix of different dance forms, where trained dancers will perform. First they will perform individually and then there will be a group performance for which 120 artists are rehearsing," Santosh Nair, director of Sadhya, told IANS.
"The festival is a way to generate awareness about many dance forms. It is also a platform for contemporary and classical dancers to come together and learn about other forms," Nair added.
"It is interesting to see how masters and juniors of classical and contemporary dance forms are helping each other and learning more about their forms. It is a platform for them to witness how things are shaping up in future," he said.
"It is a meeting point where contemporary and classical dancers interact," Nair added.
