13 killed in lightning strikes in Odisha

As many as 13 persons were killed and four injured in lightning strikes at different places in Odisha, officials said on Friday.

"We have received reports from various districts regarding the death of 13 persons due to lightning. We are inquiring into the reports," said an official from the Special Relief Commissioner's office.

While six people were killed in Balasore district, five persons were killed in Mayurbhanj district and one each in Khurdha and Kendrapara districts due to lightning, the official said.

He said people are being sensitized about how to save themselves from lightning.
