At least 15 Al Qaeda militants were killed overnight in Saudi Arabia-led air strikes in Yemen's Aden province, a military official said on Sunday.
The air strikes pounded Al Qaeda-controlled positions and vehicles in Mansourah district, Xinhua quoted the military official as saying.
An intelligence officer said, "Four overnight air strikes were launched by Saudi-led warplanes and US drones successfully destroyed arms depots and killed senior terrorists in Mansourah."
Aden's Governor Aidarus al-Zubaidi issued an official statement saying that "security forces supported by Saudi-led coalition carried out the second phase to implement the security plan and raided Al Qaeda terror cells in Mansourah".
"The anti-terror military campaign will continue till all extremist militias in Mansourah are eliminated," the governor said.
Residents said the fighting intensified on Sunday morning and Saudi-led helicopters kept hovering over Aden's airspace.
