Sixteen crew members aboard a US Marine Corps plane were killed when the aircraft crashed in Mississippi, local authorities confirmed.
Leflore county's emergency management director Frank Randle told the media that after several hours of searching, rescue teams located 16 bodies with no survivors, reports Efe news.
The Marine Corps confirmed the crash, but did not confirm if there were civilians among the crew.
The cause of the accident, that occurred at 4 p.m. (local time) on Monday, on the border of Sunflower and Leflore counties, north of the state capital Jackson, has not yet been determined.
The crashed aircraft, a Lockheed Martin KC-130, was a four-engine tanker used for aerial refuelling and transportation.
