Jakarta, April 21 (IANS) Three days after a boat, carrying 44 people, capsized in an Indonesian river, at least 19 bodies have been recovered while four still missing and 21 other passengers having survived in the accident, an official said Saturday.
The incident occurred in Mahakam river in East Kalimantan province Wednesday, Xinhua reported.
The number of passengers was initially estimated to be between 50 to 68. .
"After re-examining the data and verification with the firm where all the victims were working at and families of those victims, we agreed that the passengers on board totaled 44," Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesperson of Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency said.
The authorities have ordered the rescue operation to last for one week from Wednesday.
