Twenty people were killed and nine others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and truck in the Brazilian state of Parana, police said.

The accident occurred near the town of Cafezal do Sul on Monday, Efe news reported.

The bus was carrying at least 30 patients and family members to a hospital in the city of Umuarama when it was struck by a truck going in the opposite direction.
