Three Taliban militants were killed and 16 others captured after the Afghan Special Operation Forces carried out raids in two provinces, the military said.
"Three militants were killed and 11 detained following a Special Operation Force raid in Arghandab district of Kandahar province on Sunday," the Afghanistan Operational Coordination Group (AOCG) or command of Special Forces said in a statement on Monday.
In addition, five Taliban militants were detained in Shinwar District of eastern Nangarhar province on the same day, Xinhua quoted them as saying.
Afghan security forces have beefed up security operations against militants recently, as the Afghans have been witnessing a surge in attacks by Taliban and Islamic State (IS) affiliates across the country.
The Taliban has yet to make comments.
