A shallow aftershock, measuring 5.8 magnitude, jolted West Sumatra in Indonesia on Thursday morning, the meteorology and geophysics agency said here.
The quake came at 07:10 a.m. Jakarta time with epicentre at 598 km southwest Mentawai islands and with the depth at 10 km under sea bed, Xinhua quoted an official as saying.
Previously another aftershock with 5.2 magnitude also hit the area at 23:08 p.m. Jakarta time on Wednesday with epicentre at 440 km southwest the islands and with the depth at 198 km under sea bed, the official said.
