At least 75 militants have been killed in a month-long military operation in Pakistan's northwest tribal region, the army has said. A total of 21 soldiers also died in the line of duty.

The 34-day operation was launched in Kurram Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

Col. Wasim Zafar Bhatti said security forces cleared the Para Chamkani area of militants.

He said 21 soldiers died in the line of duty, while 86 were injured in the operation launched in May.

The military operation was conducted in 28 villages.

More than 15,000 people were evacuated due to the operation and accommodated in camps. Around 1,300 families, consisting of 10,500 individuals, have been repatriated to their native areas, while 400 remaining families would be repatriated before Ramadan.

The families were provided three months of ration and free transport by the authorities.
