About 8,000 people have been affected by flood in Matiari district of Pakistan's Sindh province as the Indus river continues to be in spate, Online News Agency reported Friday.
In an interview with state-run radio, Matiari's deputy commissioner said that people from 32 villages have been accommodated in relief camps and are being provided food and medical treatment.
Matiari is some 1,300 km from the national capital Islamabad.
He added that the people who have taken shelter on embankment have also been provided tents and dry ration along with items of daily use.
Flood waters have caused four separate 50-feet-wide breaches in the embankment of right bank outfall drain in Sehwan' Karampur' Petaro and Manjhand areas of Jamshoro and Dadu districts, the official said.
A spokesperson for irrigation department said that 200 houses in Sher Khan Solangi village of Jamshoro district have been washed away.
River Indus is in medium flood at all the three barrages in Sindh.
