Delhi on Friday witnessed its second dengue death, with a relative of Aam Aadmi Party legislator succumbing to the haemorrhagic fever, doctors said here.
The 38-year-old woman, who was the sister-in-law of AAP legislator Amanatullah Khan, suffered a cardiac arrest and multi organ failure. She was admitted to city-based Indraprasta Apollo hospital.
"The patient was diagnosed with dengue and had severe fever for the last couple of days. Her platelet count had also gone down to 11,000," a doctor of the hospital told IANS on the condition of anonymity.
According to the hospital, the patient was given two blood platelet transfusions but still her condition deteriorated and she succumbed to the disease on Friday afternoon.
Earlier, an 18-year-old girl from Jafrabad died due to "dengue shock syndrome" on July 21.
