AAP wants Goa CM to come clean on reinstating tainted brother-in-law

Accusing Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar of going back on his promise of "zero tolerance to corruption", the AAP on Tuesday threatened to picket his official residence unless he comes clean on the reinstatement of his tainted brother-in-law.

In a letter to Parsekar, Goa Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) media head Rupesh Shinkre has given Parsekar seven days notice to come clean on the reinstatement of Goa Industrial Development Corporation Field Officer Dilip alias Ghanshyam Malvankar.

In August last year Malvankar was arrested red-handed by the anti-corruption bureau while accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe to facilitate allocation of an industrial plot at Tuem village, 35 km from Panaji.

"We are hereby giving you seven days time to explain why your brother-in-law Ghanshyam Malvankar has not faced any consequences for corruption, failing which please be prepared to face the consequences of your actions," Shinkre said.

Malvankar was reinstated to the Corporation's head office in Panaji last week.

AAP has also accused Parsekar of pressurising anti-corruption bureau of the state police and transferring key officials linked to the Malvankar case.

"On October 30, 2015, you transferred one of the officials involved in the raid on your brother-in-law, Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo, out of the ACB. SP Bosco George who supervised the operation against your brother-in law was also shunted out of the ACB a few weeks later," AAP said in the letter.

Parsekar has in the past said that his government was committed to zero tolerance to corruption and said that the arrest of his brother-in law proved that "no one linked to corruption will be spared".
