The ABVP on Thursday suspended Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) President Ankiv Baisoya from its membership, pending the inquiry against him on charges of submitting a fake degree to get admission in Delhi University.
Baisoya is under the scanner for submitting fake documents from Thiruvalluvar University at Vellore in Tamil Nadu to secure admission in the Delhi University where he is a student of Buddhist Studies.
On Thursday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of the RSS, asked Baisoya to resign from his post and also suspended him from all responsibilities in the ABVP till the enquiry against him gets over, ABVP spokesperson Monica Chaudhary said.
The ABVP also urged Delhi University to conclude its inquiry against Baisoya at the earliest.
"This incident is continuously tarnishing the image of DUSU and also raising questions on the students' mandate. So we request DU administration to complete the verification process as soon as possible and produce the result in public domain," ABVP State Secretary Bharat Khatana told IANS.
"If Ankiv is found guilty, he must face all the legal action expected in this case," he said.
Baisoya's matter is pending at the Delhi High Court, which has asked the university to conclude its probe and submit its report to it. Hearing the case on Monday for the first time, the court posted the hearing for November 20.
Baisoya was elected the DUSU President in September. The ABVP won three of the four seats against the Congress-backed National Students Union of India (NSUI).
