Around 180 people spent the night with the shelterless in a campaign initiated by a NGO on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi's 144th birth anniversary.
The campaign was jointly organised by ActionAid, Aman Biradri, Shehri Garib Haq Abhiyaan, Shehri Adhikar Manch, GSSS and Joy of Giving Week.
Ashutosh, who is preparing for the civil services exams, said: "After spending the night out in the open with them, I feel the homeless and those living on footpaths don't just deserve our pity. They are entitled to all the rights mentioned in our constitution."
The campaign was organised in 27 states. In the national capital, there were sleep outs at several areas in north, east, west and central Delhi.
"The purpose of this campaign was to engage the middle classes with the issues of the homeless and create more awareness," said Anhad Imaan of Aman Biraadri.
