Goa Police have started a security drive across the state's schools in the wake of the massacre of students in Pakistan's Peshawar city by terrorists Tuesday.
The police will interact with school managements, work out drills in case of emergencies as well as up security arrangements near school campuses, a senior police official said Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg said the drive was a part of a nationwide initiative started by the union homeministry for home affairs in order to keep schools safe from terror attacks.
"The police will interact with school representatives and urge them to remain alert," Garg said, adding that the state police were also taking stock of security lacunae near school campuses in the state.
"This is being done as part of a central initiative in wake of the attack on a school in Pakistan on Tuesday," Garg said.
Over 140 people, including 132 children at an army school in Peshawar were killed Tuesday, when several Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorists stormed into the campus and opened fire on the students and staff.
