Passenger carrier SpiceJet on Friday said its Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh has been named the "Indian entrepreneur of the year 2017 for business transformation" by global consultancy firm EY.
"From staring at an imminent closure to achieving 12 quarters of profit and a load factor of over 90 per cent every month for 33 months in a row, SpiceJet's turnaround story under the leadership of Ajay Singh, has...no parallel in the aviation world today," a SpiceJet statement said.
The airline currently flies more than 400 daily flights, it said.
This is Singh's second stint at SpiceJet after he bought back majority stake in the airline in 2015 from the Sun Group when the airline was plagued by financial losses.
