In good news for book lovers, Amazon announced the launch of Kindle Unlimited in India on Wednesday. The offer allows customers to access books from over one million Kindle books for Rs.199 per month.

"With Kindle Unlimited, we are making reading more accessible than ever. For less than the average price of one hardcover bestseller, we've made the best digital library in the world available to every corner of India," said Sanjeev Jha, director of Kindle Content.

Readers can access books across genres of literature, fiction, health, productivity, business and economics, biographies and children's books.

"Whether you like thrillers, romance novels, sci-fi or children's books, with Kindle Unlimited, everyone will have the chance to discover not only well-established but also new authors of every genre," Jha said.

Amazon is also offering the first month of subscription at Rs.99 from Wednesday till September 30. Customers also have the option of signing up for six months for Rs.999 or 12 months for Rs.1,799.

Some of the titles include Chetan Bhagat's "Half girlfriend", "Making India Awesome", "Immortals of Meluha" by Amish, "The One You Cannot Have" by Preeti Shenoy, "Daily Inspiration from the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari" by Robin Sharma, "War Brides" by Helen Bryan, "All I Need Is You" by Julia London, "Stay Hungry Stay Foolish" by Rashmi Bansal, and "13 Steps to Bloody Good Luck" by Ashwin Sanghi.

Readers can access the books across Kindle devices and free Kindle reading apps for iPhone, iPad, Android tablets and phones, PC and Mac.
