A three-member delegation of the Aligarh Muslim University, led by Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) met union HRD minister Smriti Irani on Thursday to seek funds for the development projects.
Lt Gen Shah apprised the minister of the grim financial condition of the three AMU Centres in Kerala, West Bengal and Bihar and urged her to provide adequate funds for the long drawn development projects
Irani asked the vice chancellor to meet Joint Secretary, MHRD, S.S. Sandhu, who was also present at the meeting.
Sandhu assured the AMU delegation that the funds approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) will be made available to the university soon.
The AMU delegation also met the Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office, Jitendra Singh and briefed him about their meeting with Irani.
Lt. Gen. Shah later said: "I am quite satisfied with the meeting and hope that the ministry will take up AMU related issues in a positive manner."
