Paying an ode to Lord Shiva through music and dance, eminent classical artists rendered a soulful evening on Tuesday through their mesmerising performances at 'Maha Shivaratri' organised at 'Raja Radha Rangmanch in the national capital.
Organised at Natya Tarangini, this annual festival saw artists like folk singer Malini Awasthi, carnatic vocalist OS Arun, aced Kuchipudi dancer Bhavana Reddy and other notable personalities performing on stage.
The academy also felicitated the veteran maestros for their lifetime contribution and achievement in the field of art and culture - Kathak dancer Uma Sharma, Kuchipudi dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy and theatre artist Gurcharan Singh Channi.
"Shiva means 'Shubham' and 'Mangalam'. Shiva Tatva consists of these two traits. Shiva is also known as 'Nataraja' - Lord of Dance and it is said that his 'Damaru'created the sound of musical notes and dance syllables. Hence, some people celebrate this auspicious day - praising Lord Shiva by chanting mantras and we at Natya Tarangini celebrate it through music and dance," Raja Radha Reddy, Founder, Natya Tarangini Academy said.
