An agitating Anganwari worker attempted to set herself on fire here on Tuesday but was saved by fellow protesters.
Anganwari workers have been protesting in Srinagar demanding an increase in their monthly remuneration.
The Anganwari scheme was started in the country in 1975. Under the scheme, local women employed as Anganwari workers offer a range of services to pregnant women, young mothers and children up to five years of age.
