Anglo-Indian member nominated to Telangana assembly

Elvis Stephenson, a member of Anglo-Indian community, has been nominated a member of the Telangana legislative assembly.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan Thursday nominated him as the member on the recommendation of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

With this the strength of Telangana assembly has gone up to 120, said a statement from the chief minister's office.

Stephenson is the first nominated legislator of Telangana, which came into being in June this year.

The Anglo-Indian community living in Secunderabad, the twin city of Hyderabad, always had a nominated member in the assembly of united Andhra Pradesh.
