After playing Randeep Hooda's daughter in "Sarbjit", actress Ankita Shrivastav will now be seen in Nandita Das's yet untitled film based on the play "Ballabhpur ki Roopkatha" by Badal Sarkar.
The film, directed by Akhilesh Jaiswal, will feature Ankita opposite Pradhuman Singh.
She plays the role of Chanda, who belongs to a very rich family where her father wants to up their social status by buying a haveli that is about 400 years old. Chanda asks a lot of questions and then her questions about Kalidasa and Sanskrit poetry land her in major trouble.
Ankita said it was "super fun doing this film".
"The name Nandita Das was enough to take up the part... We had a 1960's set up and look. Those high buns and liners were super cool... It is a hilarious film," Ankita said in a statement.
"During rehearsals we were all actually falling off our chairs laughing. I can't reveal much about it now. It will be launched in September. Akhilesh Jaiswal, our director, was another person who added to the madness of the writing, taking it up another notch. It was super fun cast, super crew," she added.
"Ballabhpur Ki Roopkatha" is based on the ancient history of the city of Ballabhpur. Bhupati Rai, the grandson of Ramapati Bhuyan, carried their legacy and still has a 400 year old palace. Now, his financial conditions is not so good and he is planning to sell the palace, but he is unable to do so because the palace is haunted. But he finally manages to get a buyer - Chanda's father.
Confusion begins when Chanda and her family visit the palace.
