Seoul, Oct 28 (IANS/EFE) South Korean rescue teams Tuesday recovered one of the 10 bodies still missing from the Sewol ferry which sunk off the country's southwest coast April 16 this year leaving 304 people dead, most of them high school students.

The body, the first found in 102 days, was believed to be that of a woman because it was discovered in the women's bathroom on the boat's deck, according to the local news agency Yonhap.

Tuesday's discovery brings the total number of bodies recovered to 295.

It came just a day after families of the missing voted to allow divers to continue with their work instead of towing the boat, fearing loss or damage to the bodies of their loved ones.

The trial of the crew of the Sewol entered its final session in Gwangju Monday, marked by the prosecution's request for the death penalty for its captain, accused of homicide and grave negligence.

The prosecutor asked for life imprisonment for three other crewmen on the same charges and for between 15 and 30 years in jail for each of the remaining 11 crew charged with negligent conduct resulting in death.

A verdict is expected around mid-November.
