The government has collected Rs.9.5 lakh crore in taxes from April to December, Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia said on Wednesday.
"The total tax revenue collected up to December this year is Rs.9.5 lakh crore, 66 percent of the budget estimates," tweeted Adhia.
In the current fiscal, the government budgeted to collect Rs.6.47 crore in indirect taxes and Rs.7.97 lakh crore in direct taxes.
In the 2015-16 budget, direct and indirect tax collection has been pegged at Rs.14.45 lakh crore.
