Indian Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag is due to arrive in Srinagar on Wednesday to review the ongoing violence-ridden situation in the Kashmir Valley that began about two weeks ago.

Defence sources said accompanied by Lieutenant General D.S.Hooda, GOC-in-C Northern Command, the army chief will review the security situation in the Valley with Lieutenant General, S.K.Dua, GOC, 15 Corps.

"The COAS (chief of army staff) will return in the afternoon to New Delhi and brief Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on the security situation at the borders and hinterland in Jammu and Kashmir," the sources said.

The army has regretted the deaths of three civilian protesters killed on Tuesday in a firing incident in Qazigund area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district.

An inquiry has been ordered by the army to find out whether the deployed soldiers had violated the standard operating procedure (SOP) while handling the mob that attacked them on the road.
