Indian Army chief General Dalbir Singh on Wednesday visited Uttarakhand and met defence officials and jawans, apart from paying obeisance at the famous Badrinath shrine.
After paying obeisance at the temple in Chamoli district, he flew back to Joshimath for a brief stay, an official said.
The Army chief inspected border areas from his chopper and met officials and jawans posted there.
He also cheered up the troopers posted on the international border and facing many odds, including inclement weather.
The army chief is learnt to have discussed the border situation with local army officials.
He later returned to New Delhi in an army chopper.
