An Indian soldier was killed and two others were injured when their bunker along the line of control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir caught fire, a police officer said.
The officer said one soldier of Indian Army's Jat regiment was killed and two others were wounded when a bunker in the Tootmar Gali area of Nowgam sector along the LoC caught fire Sunday night.
"Injured soldiers have been evacuated to hospital for treatment", he said.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
They, howver, said kerosene and hard coke heaters used by soldiers on the LoC inside bunkers to keep themselves warm may be the source of the fire. Due to early snowfall this season night temperatures have already dropped in higher reaches.
