The Indian Army's expedition team at the Everest base camp has enough rations, medicines and other supplies and they are helping others stuck there, officials here said on Monday.

The 30-member team was stuck at the base camp after a series of avalanches hit the area following Saturday's massive earthquake in Nepal.

According to army officials, the team has so far rescued 61 people following the avalanches.

"Because of good drill, the team escaped the avalanches... Their team's equipment was initially buried in the snow but they have managed to retrieve it. There are medicines, basic tentage, and rations," an army official said.

"They have enough rations to share with others at the base camp. Some rations were also sent to camp one by helicopter."

The official said a doctor with the team, Maj. Ritesh Goel, alone gave medical aid to around 60 people who were rescued by the team.

One of the team members, who is injured, is being taken to Kathmandu.

"He insisted on staying, but is being brought back. We will get more information about the situation after he arrives (in Kathmandu)," said the official.
