India's largest bus manufacturer and the fourth largest in the world, Ashok Leyland on Wednesday said it has bagged orders for 2,580 buses from various state transport undertakings (STUs).
In a statement issued here, the company said it bagged orders from Institute of Road Transport, Chennai, Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation and Chandigarh Transport Undertaking for 2,580 buses.
These orders are among the largest from STUs for a single manufacturer. All these buses can be delivered before March 2019, the company said.
"We are very happy to receive the confirmation of these orders from state transport undertakings. Our ability to bring value, combined with our superior technology and innovation, will help us maintain our leadership position in buses in India," Vinod K Dasari, Managing Director, was quoted as saying in the statement.
