A major in Assam Rifles has been arrested in Assam on charges of murdering his wife.
Police said Major Gaurav Singh was taken into custody following the murder of Priya Singh, whose body was recovered on the evening of May 30.
On May 1, Singh had told police that his wife had been missing. Police Wednesday produced him before the chief judicial magistrate at Kamrup who remanded him in police custody for five days.
Police said the murder followed strained relationship between the couple.
